A recent Federal Circuit decision reversing a patent injunction involving several Evenflo car-seat models represents an important development for companies involved in patent-enforcement disputes.

The decision concerned Evenflo’s EveryFit, EveryKid, SafeMax, Evolve, and Transitions product lines and the standards governing when a court may prevent continued sales during patent litigation.

An injunction can have consequences far beyond the courtroom because it may interrupt distribution, affect retailers, and remove established products from the market. Appellate review therefore focuses closely on whether the governing legal standards and evidentiary requirements were correctly applied.
